The Dumbing Down of America

When the Berlin Wall came crashing down 20 years ago, the cold war ended with triumph for the west. Instead of two superpowers, there was one. Instead of competing ideologies, there was capitalism. and a particularly brash form of capitalism at that.

We can either prop up the billionaire bailout society or we can begin the necessary process of breaking it up. Guess what the financial interests want? To counter that, can growing resentment towards the super-rich turn into a populist revolution?

Through my work in numerous organizations which represent the interests of oppressed communities I have realized that, while many of my fellow activist's values are rooted in Marxism, they do not believe themselves to be Marxists but Liberals.
